Our religious Education programming for Children & Youth at Community is grounded and guided by all eight Unitarian Universalist principles.
The language and concepts of these principles are appropriately adapted for younger age groups and are often taught through art, storytelling and service projects.
It is the general philosophy of our Director of Religious Education that early introduction to powerful terms within a loving framework of spiritual and theological support, and with plenty of space for questioning and conversation, can become an anecdote to fear and judgement, and in fact lead to empowerment, spiritual growth and compassionate action throughout a young person's own faith journey.

NOT JUST US
Voices of Youth in Religious Education
NOT JUST US is an exhibition of photography by youth ranging in age from 14-18. Works in the show fuse art and activism in an exploration of key concepts found in the eight Unitarian Universalist principles.
Justice, equity, dignity and conscience act as a lens through which these young artists tell the story of their world as it is, and as it could be.
The works curated for NOT JUST US were created in a 10-week teen photography workshop titled ALL 8, a Community Church Religious Education Program designed by Jil Novenski, Director of Religious Education for Children & Youth. The exhibition can be viewed online at Gallery35nyc.com, in "past exhibitions".
