Time Served! - Art Exhibit
Gallery35 @ Community presented art exploring the issue of overcoming the challenges facing those released from prison who are seeking new beginnings in the larger community.  Partnered with CSSNY's conference  Full Participation is a Human Right that was held at Community Church.

Weekly:

Hatha Yoga with Nafisa Degani

Tuesdays, 6-7:30 pm / Saturdays, 10:30 am -12 pm, FrontLounge

Hatha Yoga is a branch of yoga which concentrates on physical health and mental well-being. Hatha yoga uses bodily postures (asanas), breathing techniques (pranayama), and meditation (dyana) with the goal of bringing about a sound, healthy body and a clear, peaceful mind.  Please bring a yoga mat to the class. (No sessions on major holiday weekends.)

NYC Street Singers

Most Tuesdays, 7 pm, Sometimes Offsite in the Summer

The NYC Streetsingers are now doing community outreach with Sing for Hope, a volunteer artists program that performs in Healthcare facilities throughout NYC.  We will be singing in small concert venues and  at bedside performances. Open to all who also believe in the transformative power of the arts to inspire and unite, please join us on Tuesday evenings.  For more information please contact clisbin25@aol.cpm

Pranayama Breathing Exercises with Nafisa

Fridays, 1:15 pm, Chapel (by appointment) – No Session July 5

Learn the breathing technique which improves breathing capacity, opens the upper chest muscles, strengthens the lungs and opens air passages while releasing tension through the spine and shoulders. Requested Contribution: $20

Speech Support Group

Tuesdays, July 2 & 16, August  6 and 20, 6:30-8:15 pm, 3rd Floor Classroom

This monthly group is open to Community members and friends. It welcomes anyone who is a secondary stutterer – that is an adult who acknowledges he/she does stutter, and one who always has "anticipatory anxiety", the expectation to fail, to be dis-fluent. Our meetings start with relaxation breathing, then follows with specific exercises and then conversation using the taught techniques. There is a $2 fee per meeting.

 

Secular Humanist Society of New York Book Club

Thursdays, July 11and August 1, 6, 7-8:30 pm, Front Lounge

Some of us will have dinner together afterwards at a nearby (inexpensive) restaurant. Please join us. Join us even if you haven't finished reading. The book club is open to all ... and free!  See www.shsny.org  for titles.

 

Art & Card Making Circle

Sunday, August 18, 1-3 pm, Gallery

Join us after Fellowship Hour for an afternoon of crafting fun.  Supplies will be provided but feel free to bring your own as well.
